This March we held our very first “Bee Hospitable” class in partnership with Pierce County Beekeepers Association. The very knowledgeable Mary Dempsey shared with our participants the wonder of Mason Bee’s and how they differ from Honeybee’s.
After Mary taught us how to care these impressive and vital creatures, our volunteer instructors helped participants build Mason Bee houses to take home. Mary also brought Mason Bee cocoons for participants to take home to hatch! During the presentation we actually had a male break free from his cocoon and give us a first hand look at the white spot on his head that clearly identifies
We loved that most of our participants were families who came together to learn and build!
