A Special Message from our Founder

The quarantine is certainly affecting everyone's lives these days. Our programs are not exception. We know that this is temporary. We know that once the quarantine is lifted the need for people to connect in a a meaningful way will be even more important. We have great projects waiting to start once the quarantine is lifted.
But, what about now? In Martian E.P. Seligman's book, Florish, he states that "Other people are the best antidote to the downs of life and the sincle most reliable up." He further states that "we scientists have foudn that doing a kindness produces the sincle most reliable momentary increase in well-being of any exercise we have tested."
How do we keep ourselves “up” when we are in quarantine? What CAN we do? How can we serve others when we have to be physically distant? Building Beyond the Walls has been working with community organizations to help with the collection of food for the schools weekend food programs. We also partnered with Home Depot in Bonney Lake to get over 200 Kids Building kits to the White River School District and ECEAP kids. Many of our volunteers are making masks and helping in their local communities.
If you are looking for ways to help, please check out our Facebook page. We have been posting great ideas and needs there. There are opportunities you can do in the community if you qualify (https://tinyurl.com/volunteer-guidelines) or from your home. Please share what you are doing to inspire others!
The Covid 19 has connected us all in a powerful and global way. We have a common bond in fighting this virus. There is good and bad in every situation, what we focus on is what will grow. My heart swells as I see the many ways people are rising to help each other. We will come through this time stronger and more resilient. My hope is that we will continue to be bonded in victory. We are always better together!
Stay safe. Wash your hands. Be kind. YOU make a difference!
